What are your thoughts on this new certification? Do you see it adding value to the professional development journey of experienced project leaders?

Thank you, Francisco. Having examined the official APL ECO, I see potential value in combining organisational assessment of advanced capabilities with an individual examination focused on leadership in complex, high-stakes projects.

However, important questions remain.

How does PMI establish comparability across organisational assessments? How are individual capabilities distinguished from collective outcomes and organisational conditions? And how does the organisational assessment complement an examination that assumes decision-making authority?

What does APL demonstrate beyond, or at a more advanced level than, PMP, PgMP or PfMP?

Accessibility also matters. How demanding and costly is organisational accreditation, particularly for smaller organisations? What opportunities exist for experienced professionals without access to an accredited programme?

APL may add meaningful value. Establishing that value requires evidence of assessment validity, incremental capability recognition and accessible, proportionate certification pathways.
