(Let's try to keep this on topic of BA knowledge and assume the lottery numbers is a given)

For me the answer is::

You don't have to know it all AND coffee is currency

I would tell a new BA that the key is influencing people: you don't need to know it all if you can get if from other people.
Influencing or communicating?

So, I take it you are against reuse then?

I think there is great waste in reinventing the wheel every time. If you don't have enough time to evaluate your work, which should have been done in the definition phase, then how will you know if you are truly successful. Further, how will you ever improve.

Being bored seems....well...trivial??
Steven, can you explain why you want to go back to the past? My stand point here is, we have learnt in course of time about our mistake (on-going). Why not we keep moving and use lessons learnt to prevent any further damages?

I am not getting your point in "reuse".

Good Judgement comes from Experience and Experience comes from Bad Judgement (Past) - Your past is your own lessons learned Knowledge Base. In projects, before you do anything, you go back and plan based on Lessons Learned and you do the same in your life !

Yes, In projects - validate, organize, and plan. Do it right first time or for the best with all we learnt so far. If needed take corrective action for ongoing and preventive action to avoid. There is NO to going “back” to old stage. Just keep moving….

Who said there is no going back to old stage ? In planning, there is something called: Go Back-Iterations.

Anyways, different point of views Sandilyan, that does not mean anyone is wrong. You can manage your life the way that you think suits you best. No one know better than him/herself what is best for them.

May be it is for simulation or best possible plans, or for intangible items, could be part of original plan itself like agile / iterative model. I don’t know if people are interested to open up completed milestones. I am not very sure, about it. May be I have not come across. I felt like after completing basement foundation, & few months after while laying out bricks framework, it’s like digging back to see if any column is missing!!

Well, you live and learn everyday, no one came accross everything. Definitely, your example of Basement Foundation and Digging Back has nothing to do with what I said, i think you misinterpreted what I said ! On the other hand, I assume we are all professinals Mr. Sandilyan and we know how to do our job and even if there were different opinions, it doesn't mean that someone is wrong. You see things from your own perspective, others see it from theirs !

On a side note, your basement foundation example could happen, and it is very common especially in the gulf area.

Very True, Rami. We're sharing our own experience. Sorry, let me correct if I’ve wrongly or unknowingly done something in my comments.

Regarding Gulf Area - We already knew, it is prone to be, we could as well take some precautionary measures. I am really not expert here, just my thought, to see different views.

@Rami, I did not mean about plan.
The Plan we will revise accordingly to meet the set target if required, there could be alternate as well be implemented. I meant the completed activities, the outcome that we're discussing here based on the requirements.

This is far more complicated then it needs to be. I wasn't looking to debate the theory behind a hypothetical question I proposed. This was just for fun to see what you would say to yourself in the past to help them improve. It's a thought exercise, I'm not arguing the merits of past vs present.

If you look at your house example, and it cost you $1000 to complete the renovation and 5 days and years later you discover someone who could do it for $500 and 2 days....suddenly you have a lessons learned. You are right you can't change it, I don't have a DeLorean with a flux capacitor. But the principle is, what major thing have you learned that would be neat to pass along to a younger version of yourself.

Please, if this simple thought exercise doesn't interest you just move along to another topic. I don't want to argue about the merits of a hypothetical situation.

Steven, I have no problem at all from my side. I agreed with you from the beginning and I see no point to argue, I interfered and I tried to explain when I saw this taking another direction but it seems that I also was not able to clearly deliver the idea.
