Have a one-to-one meeting and understand his point of view and then try to explain your point of view .

I understand that it may not be easy to deal with sponsor but you need to take charge and use your negotiation, influencing, stakeholder management skills to take it forward and come out of this trouble.

Thanks

If my understanding is correct and you mean that your Director or Sponsor is Micromanaging then this could be an issue which you have to somehow live and deal with.

I agree with Bala that this could be one approach but not necessarily a solution. I recently wrote an article about Micromanagement and was published, it mentions symptoms, issues and how to deal with them. Go over it and I hope you will find it useful. Below is the link:

Rami you are correct and It is the real issue! You cannot explain him the situation because he has many responsibilities. At the same time he asks you to inform him everything and take approval. You cannot establish the clear communication and reporting plan. All your time wastes in reporting.

I agree with you so the only thing is to be patient and smart until you give him a suitable level of comfort.

@ Bala: I agree with you.
We need to take charge and use your negotiation, influencing, stakeholder management skills to take it forward and come out of this trouble. But sometime problem doesn't stops. I liked Rami article on this matter. The method suggested gives you hope and hope brings positivism to face the problems

There is a gap in communication and customer, the very key stakeholder is not properly engaged. You can try to mend this situation, or face the wrath of failure.

It could be the Sponsor's personality, but I can see the lack of confidence in the Sponsor. So the goal of the communication is to build up the confidence. Some clear figures can ease the mind, and it should also include any risks and issues. Imagine in the shoes of the Sponsor who pay for the project: You don't want to hear good progress in every report and suddenly one day the project is totally off track and cannot turn around.

@Mr. Suhail You can establish the communication with customer and write contractual letters. In this case sponsor and customer both exists.

There has to be a time for decision making. But Sponsor(your Senior) violates that limit and project suffers.

@Dominic, Yes you are correct.PM has to be only smart and patient in this kind of situation. It needs a lot of negotiation for each matter to get the decision. Sometime a PMO can help if you have in your organisation.

You have to make it visible. That´s all. Visible means you have to record all related to time and cost and you have to demostrate that she/he is responsible for the decisions she/he take because the intervention. At the very begining you must made and stakeholder analysis. This will say you the strategy of administration for each stakeholder. This is the other key to be prepare about your stakeholders reactions during the project.
