From your experience:

1- How does PMI-SP compare to PMP in terms of study time and exam difficulty ?
2- Any recommended references to study from for the exam ?
3- Any any other general recommendations ?

I completed the PMP first (at that time the PMI-SP was not yet available), and later completed the PMI-SP. Personally I find both are useful.

For the PMI-SP I referenced the PMI Scheduling Professional Exam Outline. I found that information very helpful to know what type of questions would be asked. The PMI-SP exam was much shorter than when I took the PMI exam.
