There are many instances wherein team mate will say, you don't know, this is how to do it or the consultant/contractor will say " this is the ONLY way to do it".
Unfortunately, both do not see the big picture and one has to decide what is right and go ahead. Later, everyone will say this was wrong and so on. Still one has to retain the composure and bide for the time.
Such instances requires self awareness, self control and social skills. This was practiced many times and demand occurs regularly.
In addition, when you have to engage with a stakeholder and listen to him/her patiently to all their list of errors and when one asks them, propose the solution, most of the time, there is no clear and single answer. At such situation, such individual should be asked to be in the forefront and watch how the individual handles self.

Hi Markus, thanks for your input. Have you ever applied your emotional intelligence ? If yes, when and why ?
Hi Rami,
i am convinced that to develop and to apply EI is a critical success factor for each and every project manager and leader.
As a pm you have to apply your EI abbillitys each and every single day and always while communicating and ineracting with your team and/or your stakeholders.
EI is espacially important when the situations become difficult and/or when conflicts are occuring.
And EI is not only important while working but also in your partnership for instance or while interacting whith other people.
Just my 2 cents ...

...I would say that it's the ability we will have to use in Project Management in order to drive/align the diverse stakeholders attitudes during work so that their common focus and actions direct them all towards project success, a win-win situation or the most advantageous possible one if circumstances get unfortunate.
