Dear Members,

I'm planning to come out with simple timesheet mechanism to ensure the team to record and see how effectively and efficiently they are using their time daily.

Example :
Login : Logoff:
Item# Activitiy Estimate Actual Time Spent Remarks

I'm planning rollout that next week, hence your kind help and immediate reply is highly appreciated and timely help.

Thank you.
Ganesh

It depends on your process definition and about your objective to do that.

When I track my own time for personal reasons - as opposed to work requirements - I usually like to keep count of the number of interruptions during a time period. Of course, they could put that under Remarks.

Ganesh, there is a template of my own uploaded on this website for time recording. You might find it helpful.

Ganesh,

In this sheet, you can record how many hours per day per activity you spend and you can build on it if you're saying it is a good start. However, for my work I use a program called Harvest for time tracking and it is amazing, check it out as well.

Hi Ganesh,

You can start from Rami's work, and put input data column like earn value and some calculation colums like cpi, spi to see the work as well as how effectively the team are doing.

Hi Rami / Hau, Thanks for your inputs. I have dont have any cost model and Schedule, hence unable to track cpi, spi.

Now its like this.

Project , Task, Notes, Start , Finish, Duration. Any other data i can add?

Hi Ganesh,

In fact Duration = Finish - Start, thus it is not necessary to put into the sheet.
To see how much work has done, you should seperate Finish as Estimate Finish and Actual Finish. For on going task/ item we need Percentage of done work. Therefore you can see the effective of your team.

Don't make it too complicated or they won't do it. How about measuring their progress toward achieving milestones instead?
