Can someone explain the following taken from PMI link...

http://links.pmi.mkt6308.com/servlet/MailV...TA2S0&mt=1&rt=0

Due to upcoming PMI system and policy changes, the option to sync PMP® and PgMP® renewal cycles will no longer be available for certifications granted after 1 April 2016.

Although renewal cycles may no longer be aligned, please note that all Professional Development Units (PDUs) earned will automatically apply to both the PMP and PgMP Continuing Certification Requirements.

Please contact [email protected] if you have additional questions or concerns.

This is how I understand:

If you have both PMP and PgMP certifications, usually they may have been obtained separately, and hence have two different renewal dates. In the past, you could sync up the dates and have the same renewal date for both. It looks like - effective April 1 - PMI is doing away with that approach... so each certification will have a different renewal date. (I don't see a material impact here).

However, PDUs obtained will continue to count toward the requirements for both certifications - dual impact. (I like that this is staying as-is, otherwise one has to earn twice the number of PDUs to keep both certifications in effect).
