Has anyone used measures to determine if the communication plan is effective? If so, what type of performance indicators, tools or techniques have you used? This is something that I have not tried in any of my projects. I would like to know if there are any tried and tested methods. Saving Changes...
Haven't done it either. Great idea. Will spread the word and revert if found something.

The only technique I see used frequently is surveys. Otherwise, it tends to be anecdotal.

Unfortunately with surveys, you need to find the sweet spot: not too long so people will not complete them but detailed enough to be meaningful.

Excellent question. I can of course confirm that a good communication plan probably backed by a good RACI and implemented and used as seen, will accurately help the project or program to unfold synergies and strengths I planned in. I cannot explain how to measure this as it is peoples actions that unfold the enhancement - each for her/himself but only the team will put the horespower on the street, as each input is like a piece of energy for the machine that's up to deliver in time, budget and quality. It is great, when this happens!

Thank you for the comments Edgar. Having a good RACI in place will definitely support the communication plan.

It is a feeling that you get when doing the project, you review your stakeholder engagement plan and analysis and point the communication in the right directions.

Thank you for the comments Warren. Yes, the stakeholder engagement plan feeds into the communication plan. Apart from that I believe the governance process will also contribute to the communication plan.
