As the meaning of the words are, it is easier to remember that way:
Discrete: Individual/ distinct. In PM language these efforts/actions are the ones those are measurable, can be planned and actions which results in direct outcome/work/product. Well defined action. Example: effort to prepare a drawing, design documentation, report, software version,
Apportioned: allocation/ distribution. In PM language these efforts are the ones that are directly proportional to the Discrete work and result ultimately in achieving the discrete effort. No fixed time to do these works. It can vary depending on the work pacnage/item to be verified. Cannot be broken to discrete efforts. These efforts are assumed based on previous experiences and in a proportion to the discrete effort. Example: effort to do a testing, inspection, verification.
Level of Efforts: Effort that does not produce measurable outcome. Examples: Meetings, Liasoning, Maintenance, admin works, accounts dept work.
