20. Software engineers like other types of engineers are not noted for their writing skills. Given that a significant amount of documentation is often required on a software project, what steps we shall take to ensure the documentation is developed on time, within cost and has good quality?

We have tech writers and a standard template agreed to by the Operations Managers. That way their documentation efforts focus on the interesting stuff, not formatting and language.

The project plan is approved by the project manager, project sponsor or the functional managers providing the resources for the project.

The project management plan is owned by the project manager.

You should follow any of these –

1. Take professional service for developing the content of the product or service
2. Have a dedicated member in your team who periodically reviews the product or service, and develops the content
3. Assign the content development to each software engineer responsible for developing specific module
4. Get associated in the development with the team, review the product/service , and contribute to the content development
