Dear All,

I am looking for a new opportunity in project manager's field. So can you please suggest some resources for preparing for the project manager's interview.
I feel that other than the practical experience which I have as a project manager may not be enough because I may not be encountering all the situations and it is better to learn about other situations and from the experiences of other people.
I found this projectmanagement.com is one such resource.Any other resources?

Thanks
Bala

If you still have reasonable time before your interview, then go though the PMBOK 5th edition and understand the Project Management processes overlap and interact.

Hi Bala, I would say that it depends on the job and organization. Good to have some basic understanding of PM lifecycle.. the PMBOK will help. When I am job hunting I also try and parse the spec for keys also. It was once recommended to me to use something like Wordle to create a word cloud with the spec which will help hone in on keywords. Sometimes the job is looking for more than just PM skills so it is good to understand what that might be.

Also do research on the Company. It is good to look at the company websites. Also, use resources like Glassdoor to find out more about the company, people who work there and feedback on people who have interviewed(Often you can find someone who has interviewed for a similar job)

Finally, keep up with articles and blogs like those on this website. There may be useful tidbits that will help with your interview and keep you current.

Good luck!
Linda

Be ready for the tough questions. What is your greatest fault/weakness? Tell me about one of your failed projects (and what you learned from it). How would you handle an executive who doesn't want your project to succeed? How do you motivate a team member who doesn't want to be on your project team?

There are more. Search the net for "tough/difficult interview questions".
