As per PMI PMBOK Communication channels are calculated as n(n-1)/2
Say n = 255 then communication channels are 32385. My question how to describe these channels practically and implement them for effective communication?

A proper Communications Management Plan is, in this case, essential. I'd recommend you take a look into PMBoK (Chapter 10) to dive a bit into Communications management.

Communication Management Plan is always essential in any project regardless of the number of communication channels. However, when you have a huge number of CC's then you need to set priorities and define the management plan in more details.

I already mentioned above - You can never deal yourself with that amount of communication channels - This number of communication channels exists on large projects which includes all stakeholders so when you set priorities you will end up with a reasonable shortlisted communication channel list and you will define who handles which channel.

Agree with your points. I want to discuss with other members what is the logic behind calculating communication channels? How to interpret the numbers? You can develop the communication pan without knowing the numbers too.

I agree with your last statement - Numbers become far from real when they grow beyond certain level so yes, as long as you know the proper channels, you can develop the communication plan.

Communication channels are the no of possibilities that stakeholders can have communications with every one by every one.
Communication channels are not just one stakeholder talking to others.Communication channels are all about every one talking to every one.The given formula gives us the no. channels that we can have in a project.
