I would like to know if some of you belongs and participate actively in your local chapters. I've share my comments with my international colleagues and friends, and I've discover that the activities, events, or networking is very different from one country to another.

There are local chapters more actives than others. people more involved than others.

Share your experience!

I do belong to a local chapter and would use to engage myself with activities of the chapter. It was nice to attend events, interact with people and get to experience the thoughts on various topics organised by my chapter. At present due to location constraint on account of my current job, I am unable to attend but would love to start all over again in future.

I am not only member of my local chapter - I also volunteer, this year as VP IT. It is very exciting to form the future of a chapter and be the elsewise missing link between PMI global and the local peers. We offer information and assistance, monthly events, and networking which are valued not only by members.
For myself the years in volunteering allowed me to gain insight and experience, collaborate on a national, European, and international basis. This year I also presented at the Leadership Institute Meeting EMEA - so much fun and so many great colleagues!!!

I can only recommend to connect to local chapters - they offer a lot and everyone can shape and develop not only the chapters, but also themselves and others. Fulfilling!

I belonged to the local chapter (KIPMI - Kentuckiana chapter) and was a volunteer as a Director of Membership, but to attend meetings and functions was a little too much for me, because I would have to drive an hour there, sit during the 1.5 hour luncheon, and then drive an hour back to work. As a contractor for the government, I couldn't afford to take over 4 hours a day out of my work day to attend. I was working with them to get webinars set up during the monthly luncheons as I was leaving and it was gaining traction, but it was a little too late and I'm afraid it will fall by the wayside. I just moved to Baltimore and joined the local chapter here, but haven't received the welcome information yet so I'm waiting for that to get more involved.
