Hi, My background is in IT as a business analyst and I have done some general project management work in local government before. I have seen many jobs advertised recently titled 'Digital Project Manager' and I would like to know exactly what this job entails as I ideally want to get into project management on a contract basis (I don't like the lack of flexibility in permanent roles).
Can someone please explain to me what a typical day in the life of a digital project manager would be and what resources I should use to get into this? Thanks Saving Changes...

The worst thing people are doing for our profession is to put something project manager to our role. The same you can see "agile project manager". Unfortunatelly lot of buzzwords are used trying to sell something. In my humble opinion we need to avoid this type of thigs. But, I have a familiy and I have to bring the bread to my table. So, returning to the point, and after working (including today) in this type of environements I will say that is the same than into any other type of initiatives. Most of the firms, because they do not have knowledge about the domain, put this type of searching because instead a project manager what they need is a subject matter expert that will be assigned as project manager too. digital Media, digital camera, digital television... sincerely too much digitals things nowadays to manage. (Just Kidding)
My recommendation, if your background is IT, try to develop your career in IT. If nowadays you are working in a company that promote your personal development, try to speak with your PM in order to see if you can help him as assistant or coordinator in order to start learning how this world run.
A book? phew, there are a lot of books to start, but I prefer recommend you practice in order to verify if you like this world.
