This is the origin of my Dissertation topic. What are some of your experiences with public versus private organization stakeholders and how they impact areas like resource management, risk management, and Scheduling.

From my point of view, depends on the country that you are working.

Based in my own experience, thinking in stakeholder as an user, or point of contact, doesn't matter, you'll find great people and very involved and people that will be more resistant to change.

On the other hand, stakeholder as governmental organization, usually are linked to more rules, normative and paperwork.

Conclusion, stakeholder management not always is easy.

Thank you for the feedback Maria. I agree that stakeholder management can be difficult, but if we separate the personalities from the roles we can start to make informed decisions about how to handle unique groups within organizations or business sectors.

I agree with Maria's point of view - It all depends on the country, culture, organization type and many other factors.

Managing Stakeholders is ALWAYS not easy - You need to be diplomatic as much as possible.

I have the opportunity to work in that domains. No difference. The key is to perform a good stakeholder analysis and to do that you have to prepare in advance. In my case, I have used some things that helps me a lot. Enterprise Architecture concept to perform stkaholder identification (I have published an article in PMI and IIBA), "Solution Selling" selling method to prepare for elicitation, Newton`s Laws of Movement to understand why things happends, the definition of problem (difference between reality as perceived and reality as desired) to understand the problem, etc. etc. But is you make your work is the same no matter where you are working.
