Considering PMBOK Guide 6th edition, including revising the exam pattern change, to be a project, I was wondering what it would be like to manage such a project. Share your thoughts!

Just like every other project. I can't see any difference.

You need to collect requirements, manage stakeholders, brainstorm and meet with people, etc,

A project like updating the PMBOK requires a lot of impact assessement, as it it the authorative source for a lot of other work products - such as the certifcation exam. Configuration management becomes paramount.

I was part of the team. The best source of information is the PMI itself. They will ask your questions. On the other side, when you are part of a local chapter and mainly if you act as a group of interest leader (I was) you will see how this types of things are manage as projects (the Global PMI demmads that to each local chapter). But let me say that is the same than other projects started by a business case and followed by a project charter.

Thanks Rami, Stéphane and Sergio for sharing your thoughts!
While I understand that it could follow typical project management practices, I wanted to know the areas that are emphasized more than others like Stéphane brought up Configuration management. How much role does content/scope and schedules play in it etc?

As I wrote above, my recommendation is asking to the PMI directly or being part of a local chapter where you will give the information about the process because the process is the same as the PMI Global.

Each project requires varying degrees of each knowledge area. PM's should be using these knowledge areas on current projects. Hopefully this will allow the project to meet the triple constraints set forth by the project owner.
