Hi all,

Steve here.

1. What website are the exam dates on? Are they online tests which can be accessed at any exam centres at anytime ? Similar to Microsoft exams MCSE, MCSA etc?

2. I will be doing a Project Management subject (master subject) at a university from November 2016 - Feb 2017. I would like to do the PMP exam right after the term ended. Can I apply online now and ask PMI to wait for my Project Management subject result then do the PMP exam? Or, do I have to apply after I passed the subject? The later would push the time further because it takes PMI to audit my application - which could mean late March/early April exam...

Pls help. Thanks.

Hi Steve,

Once your PMPĀ® application is accepted, you have one year from the application accepted date to sit for and pass the exam. This time is known as your exam eligibility period.

Please refer the handbook -

http://www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/p...al-handbook.pdf

Once you pay the exam fee, you will be provided with PMI Eligibility ID.

Refer scheduling instructions-

http://www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/p...nstructions.pdf

You can schedule your examination at Prometric Testing Center. Depending on your location, you can check for the nearest testing center, and the available dates.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Anupam.
I have downloaded the handbook prior to posting these questions but those are pretty general cases. Didn't go in detail.

Did you do PBT or CBT ? I might go for PBT, $200 cheaper. Yes I can be a cheapskate.

PMP has nothing to do with masters degree. As long as you have the required PDU's and experience to apply then you can apply and after ur application is accepted, as Anupam mentioned, you can sit for the exam anytime within 1 year and up to 3 times / application.

Exam is on computers, amd you will get your results immediately.

Good Luck.

PMP Handbook on P 12 says:

NOTE: While you may be able to record applicable classes that counted toward a degree, you cannot record the degree program in its entirety because some classes within the program will not apply to the requirement.

So what kind of PM education is allowed by PMI? Only approved PMP courses by approved eucation providers?

Does this mean we can't do self-study? I have got PMBOK. Kerzner and Head Start book already.

Spending another $1,000 or so for PMP? Hmmm....

Thanks Markus. I've checked it. Similar to other websites, they're not detailed. The reason I posted these questions here :)

Steve, I did CBT as there was no option for PBT.

If you are comfortable with PBT, go for it.

You can check this discussion thread on PBT vs CBT -

Hi Steve,

all what you need to know is written there, on the website and also in the handbook (where the website is referencing to also).
You have exactly 1 year (eligibility period) from the point when PMI confirmed your application.
Audit is completely random.
If your application is being audited the start of the 1 year eligibility period is paused until audit is closed.
If audit is successful the 1 year eligibility period starts then.

This all is independent fro your personal circumstances. So it is on you to manage your application and eligibility period accordingly.

Asking PMI for waiting on you is senseless from my perspective but you may contact the customer care center anyway and jsut discuss your topic with them.

I would always recommend doing the CBT version because it is much more comfortable, you can mark questions for instance whee you unsure about the answer or which much complicated and easily browse through those marked questions after you have done your first complete circle through the exam.
I can hardly imagine how you will do that with the paper based version.

Just my 2 cents ...
