Influence Rating

Hello Everyone.

Quick question. Over the last week or so, I have been increasingly more active in the community. Mostly engaging with community members via discussion threads and commenting on various blogs, and more recently posting a couple topics myself and starting my own blog. All good there, and happy to be as active as possible.

The question is with my influence rating. It has remained constant. To add to it, a couple days back, when I first signed on, it had increased to 61, then reverted back immediately. Then just this morning, when I logged on, it was at 63, and again, left and returned to my profile screen, only to see it back to 58 again.

Has anyone else experienced this odd behavior. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, and certainly not the only reason I'm active, but nonetheless, I would like the number to accurately reflect my status.

Thanks for reading.

Though I don't know the reason for such a behaviour, you can find more on Influence on this page: http://www.projectmanagement.com/pages/286831/What-is-Influence-

No idea how it works the algorithm, will be interesting. Maybe this odd behavior is due to website maintenance.

Hi Andrew,

This is normal. Don't worry on the influence score. Click on the influence score to reveal how it has been calculated for your profile.

This is a very good question. I have had this experience as well. The whole Influence Rating is a mystery to me. I have read the explanation; but it is still not clear. I have seen people less active / less badges / less connections / less NODs with more influence. I have given up on trying to figure that out. I am now too busy just enjoying the webinars, seminars, learning, and the interaction with good people here on ProjectManagement.com.

Yes, I have seen it as well. I understand the type of content you contribute, as well as its timeliness, has an effect on your influence.

I noticed, for example, that my influence would go up when receiving comments on my webinar but not at all on my blog entries.

Hi Andrew,
I know I am posting very late in this thread. But I would like to share few observations related to influence rating:
1. The algorithm must be calculating the time you are active and providing answers/comments/ratings. So, Sometimes I am active for 2 hours but commenting say only 5 threads.... so this doesn't boost your rating.
2. Whenever I do not login for a week or so(due to vacation), usually rating goes down

Though this rating is a mystery, but this is a good thread to discuss.
Thanks.

Hi Sonali,

Better late than never ....

It is just one of those mysteries in life. I have seen my Influence decrease while I was actively in the community posting. If I miss one day, it will decrease. It also decreases much faster than it increases.

Like exercising, you take day's off, you lose weeks worth of effort.

I was only worried about the influence to had the opportunity to open a blog...now, sincerely I don't mind if it goes up or down, I don't see (today) any benefit for it...

Did you observe something special linked to the Influence?
