Has anyone had the opportunity to work with MS Planner? A co-worker has a very small project (not really worth utilizing MS Project) and asked that I query the group on user experience. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I do not believe Microsoft Planner would be as efficient as MS Project in terms of what it can provide and I am not too sure if you can end up with a schedule as well. MS Planner is more for organizing and monitoring of simple tasks. Saving Changes...

I am implementing Office 365 at my company and I have used Planner for a few things, but it's definitely "not" an MPP replacement sad to say. I hope MS will increase the capability of Planner, or make a true MPP light (other than MS Project Online) and include it in the O365 suite of products. Planner is basically a task list or a fairly simple Kanban board. The nice thing is that it's part of O365 so somewhat integrated with the other MS Components. It is also very user friendly and easy to drag and drop.

It's been 2 years since the last post on this Microsoft Planner topic and I'd like to comment favorably on my recent experience using it in 2018. It is not meant to be a replacement to Microsoft Project. It is more accurate to say it is more lightweight and user friendly than Atlassian's JIRA and it is more integrated than Trello. It's basically a smarter version of buckets and index cards, but online. For teams or companies already in a Microsoft environment (using Outlook, Office, Teams) then Planner is a good fit as Microsoft has updates in the product roadmap coming to more tightly integrate it. Plus, it remains easy enough for non-project manager people to use and maintain with you. Saving Changes...

I've been running our projects using a fairly robust Excel doc that I created, but I'd like a solution that can help me evaluate resource requirements (people, schedules, production availability) for multiple projects running at the same time. Currently, I'm managing 8 projects that are in process during the same time frame. I'm not looking for an over-engineered solution. Would MS Planner suffice or would MS Projects or Monday or some other product provide the best solution?

Planner will not handle that. Your Excel sounds pretty custom and fit for purpose. Maybe move the Excel file to cloud so it is easier to edit or keep visible?

We have achieved very good communication improvements in organization using MS Planner and also MS Teams - both can be applied to quickly get in touch with project team so as to everyone knows what task is required or even a project relevant information shared. And in my opinion the awesome is that stakeholders can access it anywhere, anytime through mobile apps. Saving Changes...
