Greetings!
The Chief Project Officer

I've seen many organizations that have an structure that has repoting the PMO to the CFO, CIO or even directly to the CEO. However, I've seen new structures that include the CPO.

What do you think?
Do you think they help via BRM?

Miguel,

Do you meam Business Relationship Management by saying BRM ?

As for the CFO, there were lots of discussions previously and articles about this:

1- http://www.projectmanagement.com/articles/...Project-Officer

This is a very interesting article and the comments are even more interesting.

2- http://www.projectmanagement.com/discussio...-Officer--CPO--

This is a recent discussion thread.

3- http://www.projectmanagement.com/discussio...ficer-position-

Another recent discussion thread on the ssme subject.

I am personally against adding more vertical layers to projects because it increases conflict. I recently heard of this post but it seems it is becoming a requirement to have a CPO on large construction jobs especially in the middle east region.

Any government in the world must have CPO in their structure. This will help with the programs as they are combine of projects. Many people in government have a position that requires professional decision making and they are not prepare because they are not familiar with the business.
