Right now am a Release Manager with PMP certification. Due to demanding circumstances at my org, i was chosen as a Release Manager since i was mainly dealing with QA releases at my org. After serving as a release manager for 1.5 yrs, i really want to switch back to Project Management. I applied so many Project Management positions at various organizations but no reply back from the destination organizations. Am i doing anything wrong? Any suggestions to get into project management?

I welcome any positive or negative feedback for this comment. I really wanted to know what am doing wrong here-

Now a days when you apply in a organization basically software do preliminary screening of CV's so prepare your CV with specific PM experience based and include all terms which software can search. In place of applying through job sites better to search companies of your choice with open position and apply either through reference or contact relevant HR or technical person directly and discuss your credentials. All companies always look for good people but apply through sites doesn't help, you are lost in heap of resume.

Thanks Akshay for your inputs. Will companies consider my profile for PM, since am release manager with PMP credentials?

Whats your take on this?

If you have PMP credentials, it means you have some PM experience - it's a PMP application pre-requisite - and you can understand project management.

The problem is what additional PM experience have you had since your PMP? If you have very little, it will hurt your job searching. Most jobs want recent PM work.

This makes real sense to me. I've so far listed my overall experience w.r.t QA, Release Management and few flavors of PM. I will take on your input seriously.

Baburaj,

I will recommend connecting with company HR through linked in. Another option is indeed.com

Job market is competitive for mid level positions.

Thanks!!

Thanks Anupam. I will work on your input. Will you also recommend some company names to start with?
