Though your question is not clear. I think you have raised question of conflict between Project priority vs schedule. Actually schedule is always prepared based on project priority and approved by relevant stockholder of project. In case change in project priority schedule must be changed and re-approval is required on schedule. Saving Changes...

According to PMBoK, pp. 282, "... sources of conflict include scarce resources, scheduling priorities and personal work styles. Team ground rules. group norms, and solid project management practices, like communication planning and role definition, reduce the amount of conflict." Saving Changes...
I would disagree Anupam, the most common conflict is resources - as both the project manager and functional manager are fighting over them. And as stated in the PMBOK, page 282 as sited above, Section 9.4.2.3 Conflict Management states "Conflict is inevitable in a project environment. Sources of conflict include scarce resources, scheduling priorities, and personal work styles." - no where does it say schedules - it merely states scheduling priorities, meaning arranging the priorities for the organization or the project around the schedule; not necessarily the project schedule. But when referring to scarce resources, we all understand that to mean fighting for the appropriate amount of people working on our project while balancing the "other" work they also have to accomplish during the work week. I hope this help the person who originally asked the question!
And yes Mayte, we must always keep in mind where the references come from - not everything on the Internet is correct. I always refer my students to the PMBOK if they are unsure of anything. Thanks for bringing that up to the original question!

Constrained or scarce resources are a key source of conflict. Great response Dani.

PMBOK 5th edition mentions scarce resources, scheduling priorities, and personal work styles. One thing to further consider is the project team culture which in combination with personal work style either breaks or gets together. Always establish the "Plan human resource management" as per PMBOK 5th Edition A1.5.16. Saving Changes...
