As far as you know, some companies are using some screen software to analyze the resume. Bet the robots are not always easy, and after reading a lot of info about this topic, I've obtained the following list:
- Use keywords, that's not difficult. Each sector or profession have their own keywords and is not difficult to use it.
- Don't use fancy format, logos, tables. As I'm not a web designer or a very artistic girl, that was easy.
- Use bullets to explain your experience. OK, this is something cultural, we should adapt the resume to the country that we are applying. Take care with this one.
- The position of the dates. I'm struggling with this one, some articles said before of the company and title, other said before...any tip?
Is your company using this kind of screening programs? Some tips for all us that are looking for a job and want to beat the robots. Saving Changes...

I haven't applied for jobs outside of the University for 25 years! I've decided that I wanted to move on though and really find something that will allow me to work fully in project management and stop programming altogether. Imagine my surprise when I had to examine the process today compared to 25 years ago. Boy did my resume ever need an update!
I actually paid a company to do my resume over (not naming it here because they sucked). They did very little to improve my resume and I ended up having to correct their typos.
So now I've been hitting the job boards hard. Ready to go at any time! I have no doubt in my skills. It is more about landing that perfect job.
Last week I had a first. A request for a video interview! What????? When did they start doing them? It wasn't even an online interview. But all video. They would put up a question and I had 20 seconds to think of my response. It quickly turned into a 3 minute video recording of my response. I kind of liked it. But missed the human interaction that they would have had the pleasure of doing when meeting with me. Hopefully they will ask for that next.
But - my resume was recognized!
I'm in a good position. I do not need to find another job. And I don't totally dislike my current job. At least I get to be the project manager on some projects.

Tools/Software are just machine no way it can judge/filter human talent/potential , it all works based on some pattern...if you know the pattern ..you can pass the screening without right Qualification.. else even with right Qualification will miss the opportunity
Even after all the screening and multiple level/type of interview we get poor/average/not suitable employees ......in most teams/projects/companies
We also lose/miss good potential employee's with these tools and techniques...

Sometimes is discouraging, but I keep Positive and Patient...the perfect project is near! At least I'm improving other skills and volunteer with local organizations.

I have to agree with Mayte that Taleo type software is frustrating. I have applied for over 100 jobs, many use Taleo and other robotic screening software and while i meet and exceed all requirements as posted, sometimes within minutes i get a response that the the "detailed review" showed a better candidate was available. Nothing worse than getting sorted out by a machine with such a thorough review. Hopefully Rami is correct about landing that good opportunity. Keep the faith!

Networking was more effective than upload a resume via website. After all this year, I realized that isn't the software is the people that is managing it.
