Rami-
I do not believe in the PC position as being a necessity on my Projects.

First- I utilize an Admin Assistant to fulfill the tasks you relate in your job description. Any "Coordinator" type positions on my team are responsible for Procurement duties and Utility Coordination duties. These 2 positions are critical for our staff, and both require Civil Engineering degrees to perform well.

Second- If I am training a "Junior PM" I set up a detailed Program/Syllabus to develop that Candidate. It includes a stint supervising field Activities, and then a period of close interaction with me and specific task assignments to push the envelope on his Skill Set. I have performed this task on almost every Project- In essence I try to train my replacement.
In my opinion, a "Project Coordinator" is not required- this is a function fulfilled by the person with the "Big Picture"- the PM.

Thanks for sharing your project experience Mark.

It is interesting to know that you utilize an admin assistant to full fill the tasks of a PC. I personally won’t do that because even though I have mentioned some tasks for a PC which you believe an admin assistant can do, but there is more to this technical and project management wise so I do not believe an admin assistant is the right person to fullfill this position but at the end of thecday, everyone has their own management style and point of view.
