With several years of retirements in the rail transit industry, the loss of experienced employees has provided opportunities for career acceleration to lesser experienced managers launched into leadership positions. The focus will be on succession planning, management training and knowledge restoration, retention and transfer.

Major elements will include mastering technical and management basics of the rail-transit business, reinforcing the basics in project management and contract management, understanding the risks of project execution while maintaining scheduled transport operations, and improving project management integration across business silos.

Thanks Mauro - great idea

From your list, I see these:

1.1. Agile project management will gain acceptance outside of software development.

2.3. Blended Methodology - waterfall - Agile

My Project Management Trend: ongoing lack of clarity in governance/board roles and therefore continued poor executive decision-making.

Hi Mauro,

Nice post. Should you have a look of Dr. Kernzer's points:
http://blog.iil.com/kerzner-predictions-fo...gement-in-2017/

Summarized here:
1. Metric mania will grow.
2. Project management is now being viewed as a strategic business process rather than merely a traditional project management process used for project execution and delivery.
3. Project management career paths will become strategic competencies.
4. Each project can have a different definition of success.
5. Project governance personnel will require project management education.
6. There will be a growth in the use of Portfolio PMOs.
7. Projects will be aligned to strategic corporate objectives.
8. There will be a growth in unrealistic expectations of project management.
9. There will be a growth in internally developed dashboards.
10. Project management methodologies will be replaced by frameworks.
11. Multinational project management will grow significantly.
12. The role of the change control boards (CCBs) will be modified.
13. The use of Certification Boards will increase.
14. Companies will perform world class benchmarking.

And Mauro, should you please share your investigation results here? Thank you.

Best regards,
Guolin
