How do you calculate the PDU's to be claimed for Work as Practitioner. Does this have any formula or years of experience gets? How do we put PDUs against Work as a Practitioner experience? Saving Changes...

Hi, I am due for re-certification in April '18'.
If I understand correctly, I can claim all 8 PDUS at once for the past 3 years of working in the profession??
Secondly, what is the valid proof of employment as per PMI, I can provide the Appointment letter but as per my Company policy, they only mention a Generic Designation Ex: Manager in XXXX Business Unit.It does not tell that I am Project Manager handling XXXX Projects
Can any one advice !!! Saving Changes...

Hi All,
I am working as a Project manager from 2012 December. I haven't claimed any PDU under the WAAP for the last cycle (2011 Dec to 2014 DEC) as i already had more than enough PDU's under education & Volunteering for not for profit organizations. So, can i claim eight PDU's from the last cycle for the current cycle (Dec 22nd 2014 to Dec 21st 2017) ? Please let me know.

PDUs do not carry over to the next 3 year cycle. For example, I earned 120+ last certification cycle, but only 60 were needed. The remaining 60 are lost, and cannot be counted in the next 3 year cycle.

I beg to differ with you. In fact, up to 20 PDU’s claimed above and beyond the 60 PDU’s required to renew your current cycle, can be carried over to the next cycle provided that you acquired those at the 3rd year of your current cycle, not before.

Work as a Practitioner
Working in your certified role Each day, your work in a domain area related to your certification(s) allows you to apply your knowledge and skills in a practical setting. Using these competencies actively contributes to sustaining and growing the profession.
PDU Rules:
- This activity has a maximum number of PDUs that can be claimed per cycle:
o PMP, PgMP, PfMP, PMI-PBA – no more than 8 PDUs claimed per cycle
o PMI-ACP, PMI-RMP, PMI-SP – no more than 4 PDUs claimed per cycle
You can claim Working as Professional PDUs once per certification cycle.
The PDUs claimed in this category count against the maximum PDUs allowed in the “Giving Back to the Profession” category
These PDUs only apply to your current cycle and cannot be transferred.
Documentation required for audit: Proof of employment (job description)

The important part is, that you can ONLY ONCE PER CYCLE claim PDUs in this category.
So, it seems to be absolutely useful to claim them all towards the end of the 3 year cycle.

I just entered my 8 PDUs for Working as Practitioner. I entered 8 PDUs for some arbitrary dates within my new cycle (Jan 1 to today, July 13), and entered my detailed resume write up as the description.
It was immediately approved despite me being in the first year of my three-year cycle, and less than a year from passing my exam. So it appears that you can get your 8 PDUs at any point in your three-year cycle. Saving Changes...
