I am looking into getting my certificate in Lean Project Management; however, there are so many different ones to choose from. Is there one that PMI recommends, or a better one to take for furthering your career in Project Management? It looks like Villanova University has a good master's online program for Project Management - any insight? I am hoping to get this and lead into my PMP certification by the end of this year.

You probably won't get a recommendation from PMI for a Lean certificate. The right one really depends on what you are looking for. If you are going to get a Master's certificate, anyway, and need further education in project management, Villanova's program looks like it will accomplish that. If you are looking for a professional credential, there are other avenues that will get you there without the additional coursework.

Another consideration is where you want to go with it. There are variations of Lean certificates - Lean Kanban and Lean Six Sigma come to mind. Search job postings for Lean and see what companies where you live are looking for.

Taryn, You got great advise from Aaron.

When I personally evaluate what is best for me in terms of education, I always think of how much this specific certificate will give me a boost in my career and act accordingly.

At some point, I wanted to do Masters in Project Management but then realized that PMP will have more positive impact on my career path so I went for it.

Good Luck !

Thank you all for your help and insight! I was wondering if I should just go into my PMP or be best to get a degree in Project Management first with PMP as the summation. It seems that all PM's take a different route for what works best for them and that is going to be what I will need to do to further my career :)
