what is the difference between project manager and project leader on PMP application

what is the difference between project manager and project leader on PMP application ?

is a project leader part of the project team but leading a certain area?

Seif, PM and PL could be designation or role. Some companies have PL designation while others do not have. PMI defines PM as a role but does not define PL. For PMP, you need to have 4500 hours of PM (role) experience. Indeed, PM and PL may be used interchangeably, although I prefer PM
