Project Management itself would not be affected by new technologies. There could be new tools development due to IOT; for example you can get instant quality report. There would be new processing tools to collect and analyze the data, and would probably automatically generate some progress reports. There could be many different tools or softwares that come with it. Again, all these would only impact the details of the technical process, HR plan or quality plan etc, but never impact the principles of Project Management and the role of Project Manager.

I agree with Dominic. IoT is just a trendy way of referring to network or internet enabled devices. They've been around for more than a decade, but they are being used to drive decision making. Device or Sensors (things) can be deployed to record data which can be analyzed to improve efficiency and make better decisions. That is the real power of IoT.

From a PM perspective, it can be used as an organizational or process took when developing your project documentation. There are lots of analysis tools but it is a system of both connected devices to gather the information and analysis software to provide results or recommendations. Cloudera, a database company, has some good IoT primers. I do not work or endorse Cloudera but I just watched one of their webinars on IoT use cases which was interesting.

Project management will evolve by having improved, real-time, and potentially more reliable information to reduce risk and increase project success.

Any new technologies emerges, comes with its own challenges in managing, executing those projects. But project management will not affect largely.

Project Managers in the connected world, our role does not change, do what you have been doing, but do it even better, by leveraging the technology around you.

IoT is wonderful!
I think in IoT area implemetations shall be challenged in the area of business requirement, as to customer expectations might be unstructered and the requirements might not come out as clear and fair as it used to be in already established IT sphere. Nevertheless, expectation management and requirement management will be key area of offered challenges and opportunities in the area of project management. Adaptabilityand Agile can be buzzwords. But the future is going to be fantastic..
