While I was going thru' initial chapters of PMBOK, I read that the outcome of a project can be tangible or intangible. I was confused and didn't get any thoughts on Saving Changes...

Enhanced user experience, increased compliance, Increased customer satisfaction are other examples.
Obviously as you know Tangible measures are specific measures in terms of % increase in Sales, 'x' number of dollars more earned as a result of a new product or service, Saving of x number of lives due to introduction of a new Medical device etc Saving Changes...
Good information in the link from Rami. Thanks. I agree, that there are some intangible outcomes, but I think, that most (close to all) outcomes are tangible - if we want to put in an effort (but somtimes the effort is to expensive). If we take some of the examples from Deepesh: IT IS possible to measure customer satisfaction and brand awareness. But in most cases you need "baseline"-evaluations (eg surveys) before there project starts and then new evaluations when the project has finished and benefits are realized.
In most cases we will consider effects like brand awareness an indirect benefit from the project - and will therefore not be willing to use ressources to make it tangible. Saving Changes...

Great replies all. Belur, you got really great feedback on your thread.
Biggest intangible, but most overlooked until it bites you - perception. The perception of the project not going well, the perception of a team member not pulling their weight - might not be the truth but it is regarded as so. You may not be able to completely change the perception, but never ignore it and always work on it as best you can. This ties into the politics of project management. Right, wrong, or indifferent, it's part of the process and must be embraced. Saving Changes...

Are we talking of intangible as a by product here?
In simple terms software is an intangible product. Similarly, a project to develop strategy or model for creating selling rights for telecasting a football match or cricket match is an intangible product, there numerous such examples of main products.
A brand image creation, an ad campaign, an marketing event all could be examples are main products which are intangible.
So in my understanding when we say intangible that means the resuls are not having physical property, they can be a concept, an imaginative creation, a virtual product etc., but they main products only. Saving Changes...

When you undertake actions for capacity building, increase of practical skills in a specific job, improvement of attitudes and behaviors in a group of beneficiaries, is when you can get intangible outcomes in a project.
These outcomes, even if they do not represent percentages and numbers, can be measured by means of proxies indicators or through the use of interviews, surveys, direct observation in the work and how their skills, attitudes and behaviors have been improved. Saving Changes...
