Somebody inside your organization must sell project management. And let me say: you do not need to sell the PMBOK. What you need to sell is project management. It will be sold if the stakeholders perceived that will solve their problems which are to get organizational objectives but mainly personal objectives. As one of my professors, one of the creators of the PMI, said: "people are not selling the product or the process to create the product. People are selling the full confidence that wirh the product and the process they will achive desire objectives". In our case, while we are not sellers, we work a lot using "SPIN Selling" Selling methods and others like LAMP, Power Base Selling, etc.

Agree with Sergio - it's not about the process or selling it. It's about establishing a process that works and selling its value. If you have items from the PMBOK that make sense for your organization and you can put them in place, you'll be selling the value of what they can provide.

First understand your culture, what is the mission/vision of the organization, what do your sponsors value in terms of projects, process, governance, methods etc.

What is the problem you are trying to solve? Have you discussed this with others in your organization?

All valuable comments you got.
I think like Naomi, first what is to be solve?
Then you need to determine how it can be sold, what are the gain your organization can get from solving it.

You need to illustrate to the sponsors how the PMBOK best practices can bring value to their projects and organization - This is the Key.

A comparison between current practices vs. PMBOK ones along with the added value will be very positive for sponsors buy-in.
