Theory Y, and most definitely situational, with a general leaning toward democratic.
I like to include my team(s) in the decision making process, and encourage team member creativity by problem solving and providing solutions. The more democratic approach.
With that said, I have often found myself in situations where decisions need to be made quickly, and a more authoritative approach is required. I am comfortable playing a more autocratic role if needed.
I also like to allow for a certain amount of freedom, once I've become familiar with the overall team's competencies and am comfortable with their work ethic.
Not quite laissez-faire (I've never liked that term), but perhaps more of a self empowering approach.
