Surprise no one reply!

There are BA done at the client side of the project, should there be some on the supplier side?

Absolutely . The Business Analyst on the vendor side should flesh out the requirements provided by the client's BA and make sure that the tool or the service supplied by the vendor fulfills the client/customer's requirements
From personal experience , I would be really surprised if the Vendor did not have a BA looking at my requirements as a customer

in a tender situation If I am the customer writing a Request for Proposal , my BA is working hard on my requirements and Scope
On the other side of the fence , when the vendor is evaluating the RFP, their BA is working hard on customer requirements and aligning it with the product or service provided by the vendor

BA role has to interact many internal and external stakeholders. If customer is outside then how he needs to be invloved? - for that stakeholder analysis will help to know his involvement. Customer engagament is very important for project success.

Thanks for your post Seema.
When I posted the question I had in mind answering a RFP where the client is specifying is need, and the supplier answering the RFP. For example in a construction context.
Your answer is very interesting I will look at those links

I was part of the group that created all related to business analyst. That was because I worked inside one of the six hugh companies that created the role. Those companies were all software and IT realted services providers (IBM, HP, Oracle, etc). The role was born from the pre-sales role because those companies understood (year 1990) that in the future they will not be able to sell "boxes" to their actual and future clients if the boxes were not part of a whole solution for client's business problems. In that time, the solution was focused on IT and software (that is because some people think the role is still there) but 2 years after to publish the first BABOK all that changed to all type of solutions. I have been working as presales responsible for construction companies (hugh ones) to put an example to the table (my original background is software. I have a PH.D on that). So, Vicent, presales people were the first business analyst in the genesis mixing in that time the technical expertisse with the ability to understand the business and mainly to talk in the same language (which is not easy as you know). I teached lot of presales people around the world in business analysis following the IIBA`s BABOK and those presales people belongs to different markets.
