Does running a Start-up be accounted as an eligibility for PM experience during PMP application ?

Hello,

I did my masters in comp.sci from one of the world's top universities. And, went back to home country to start an IT company. We've did some software development projects but none have been successful to be released due to one of the many issues that a start-up faces in its earlier days. Now, I've decided to take up PMP certification and look out for job opportunities.

My question is:
Since I have a post graduate degree, the other eligibility criteria is "Minimum three years/36 months unique non-overlapping professional project management experience during which at least 4,500 hours were spent leading and directing the project"

Shall I use my start-up experience for the above required eligibility ?
Note: Its a Pvt. Ltd company registered in India and I am one of the two directors. I also took care of project management and technical operations. We did create a software product but never released it and the company never made any monetary success.
I personally was involved in startup from 2011 to 2017 but my company got registered in April 2015 only.

Kindly share your opinion and enlighten me with your knowledge as how to go about this scenario, or if there is work around or if this means its just not possible to obtain a PMP.

P.S:
Kindly excuse me if this question is placed in wrong category or place. I am new here.
Thank You.

Regards,
Aravindh

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the reply.

But the eligibility asks for 3yrs/4500hrs of PM experience. While I've registered my company only on April 2015. And though the company still exists. It only accounts to two years until now.
Will it still satisfy ?
