This Question Has me stumped . It is originally posted on LinkedIn from PMStudy
PMstudy #?PMP Question of the Day: May 26, 2017. The project team has successfully delivered the final component of a year-long project on budget and ahead of schedule.
You, as the project manager, have been offered a promotion due to this great success. The final product has been transitioned into production and post-implementation support requirements have been completed. As part of project closure, what would be done NEXT?
1. Create project closure documents
2. Release project team
3. Update Organizational Process Assets
4. Validate Scope
My Reasoning for this is as under:-
Choice 4 Validate Scope is obviously incorrect because as we can see The final product has been transitioned into production and post-implementation support requirements have been completed. This signifies customer has already accepted the deliverable. Release the Project Team , option 2 is incorrect and is the absolute last option after doing everything else . Right Now there is no indication that either the OPA Updates or the Project Closure documents have happened, so either option 1 or 3 is correct. Before you can update the OPA with the lessons learnt, you have to Create the Project Closure documents therefore option 1 is most likely the correct answer Saving Changes...

I agree with you on point 4. It is not part of project closure.
Point 2 is part of your staffing management plan, so except few key positions identified
to be kept till completion of project closures, other positions can be released.
Point 3 as such is an activity done throughout the project cycle (including closure).
Thus in my opinion if i have to select one option i will go with point 1. Saving Changes...
