Is there specific task or activities that you can complete as "virtual" or "remote" project manager ?..or Exist products that you as virtual project manager will not be able to complete?

I would like to receive your opinions in this subject.
Thank you in advance, regards

Good question. I work remotely about 40% of the time. I can do the same things remotely that I can do in person, but I have to find different ways to do them. For example, building good relationships with people is probably the most difficult thing to do when you're remote, but it's not impossible. It just takes a lot more effort.

Excelent Eric, my hole experience is as traditional project manager so your answer makes me feel more relax for a virtual project manager role.

I have been a remote Project/Program Manager for over 5 years now and not just with one company. I moved 4 companies which are large and complex as a contractor and see absolutely no difference in the way I am able to execute projects. I never even saw my team, nor we have a photo on our Outlook/Lotus Notes. And it did not make a difference in the way I connect with them via webex/phone calls. Please let me know further questions, I am happy to answer.

Really its a great experience, thanks for your answer .

Could yo tell me if do you manage a particular type of project? IT? or software project? . I always have think it could be "some type" of project you can not manage from remote as a Construction Projects.

I am working in this type of environments from more than 25 years ago. More than 60 countries included around the world (America, Europe, Asia). In my actual work place we follow the PMI way to perform project management. There is nothing different to do because you are remote.
