CBT means you can sit the exam via a computer system, and PBT means you will be given a paper exam to fill in with a pencil. Unless you have a really good reason for using a PBT, you should select a CBT as there are a number of advantages.
Well answer.
CBT for the PMI exams give you immediate result when you are finish. I can take the PBT if you have special requirements that required it.
As noted above. My understanding is that the norm is CBT, but a PBT is available for extenuating circumstances.
Back when I got my PMP there was only proctored PBT. Yes, it was in the "dark ages" - only offered 4 times a year, and one of those times was only offered at the PMI Global Conference.
