How do I connect a PM moving from Mpls to folks in Boston- she will need a job but also a community. She is working towards her PMP and has been a 12 on a scale of 10 for me in the last year.

Advise her to join a Massachusetts PMI Chapter:

Hi Debra,

Local Chapter
LinkedIn
Meetup.com
This community right here!

Also, what is her hobby? She can join a local club around her favorite hobby. For instance, join a running club. There are lots of diverse individuals involved - guaranteed to find a PM'er there!

Hi Debra, she may also want to try Twitter; but I agree with what has been shared. Especially seeking out the local PMI Chapter.

Great comments; also have her check in with the local college. They offer career fairs open to the public, free resume evaluations and more.

Hello Debra: I joined the local PMI chapter, but I also quickly started volunteering to help out and that has made such a difference - I feel really engaged and connected with my peers in the chapter as I work with them finding locations for our meetings, researching and interviewing caterers for the dinners, etc. Just attending PMI meetings is one level, but being actively engaged takes it to a whole new level where you can build relationships. In our PMI Chapter meetings, we were stickers on our name tags that show if we have jobs available to offer others - or if we are looking for a job. If her chapter also uses this practice, it might be a great way for her to make connections and work toward a new job! I wish your friend much luck and blessing on their move to Boston!
