With PMBOK Guide 6th Edition round the corner its a dilemma for new Practitioners or PMP aspirants as to whether appear for Certification now or later. How would it affect the JOB searching process? Would HRs recommend PMBOK 6th Edition PMP Certified or PMBOK 5th Edition PMP Certified for just a gap of one month of certification?

Mounir,

Please re-read my reply again and you might end up with the conclusion that we are somehow on the same page because I did mention that those changes should not be an issue for an experienced PM.

As for major and minor, you see those changes as minor, others see them as major. It's a personal opinion and point of view.
Rami

I know major or minor is a matter of opinion. This why I gave my opinion and ask you to explain and share with us major changes (in your opinion, of course).

In principle, major in my eyes is really substantial new concepts or ideas or innovation.

Another way that we define this - let us talk in term of "quantity". In the last 20 years, the changes in the PMBOK Guide (from one edition to another) resulted in less than 5% change to our PMBOK Guide related course.

I know in the last edition change - we were hearing the same comments and hearing statements like there are 5 new processes and 1 knowledge area - but most of their info were already in the prior editions. Except, with the changes there are now more (or repeated) ITTO. I remember even people were claiming the exam will be much more difficult because there were another 50+ new pages in the 5th edition over the 4th.

If we go back to the original question, why is this a dilemma? I am asking. And I was also asking, what does it matter if someone has a PMP on 1st or 6th edition of the guide? Does it really matter?

Would love to hear opinions about this
