I'm trying to get my head wrapped around exactly what a project management information system is. PMBOK 5 states in sections 2.1.5, 4.2.1.3, 4.3.1.3, 4.4.1.6, 4.5.1.4, 6.2.1.3 that as an Enterprise Environmental Factor, it includes "web interfaces to other online automated systems". Can anyone give me an example of one of these "web interfaces"?

Also, Section 7.1.1.3 says that the EEFs that can influence the Plan Cost Management process include "Project management information system, which provides alternative possibilities for managing cost". Can anyone give me an example of how a PMIS provides "alternative possibilities for managing cost"?

If I get it you have two questions.
EEF include all system supply by the organisation, accounting system, time sheet, document management system, planning software, etc. These system can post information to one an other.
For the second question a PMIS, the way I see it, some systems provide various alternative other may force you in one way.
