Problem solving / collaboration. Sometimes smoothing or compromise if they're at the same level, however this doesn't lead to a win/win.

There is not best or worst. The style must be aligned with the organizational style.

Encourage open conversation and create awareness that they are working for single objective. Also highlight that individually they may want to win each other but by doing so collectively they mak the team fail :(.

Roger Fisher and William Ury of Harvard published a book on negotiation entitled
“Getting to yes: Negotiating Agreement without Giving In”
This gives excellent guidance for conflict resolution.
