Organizational Process Assets are updated all over, and it does make sense to update these... but...

The question is, are they any processes that updates Enterprise Environmental Factors and if so why does it make sense to update these?

Just take an example of a company running projects as a business. For these companies (as a Learning Organization) to constantly strive to improve/ adapt their Enterprise Environmental Factors is essential.

I have always thought that a quarterly SWOT and/or PESTLE analysis would be worthwhile to ensure the PM as well as organization ensure they are staying in-touch with external factors which might impact them.
I use quarters w.r.t the South African context as we can have wild swings within various areas here i.e. labor, politics, legislation etc. More developed countries may not have to apply this as frequently.

The question is strickly around Updates on EEF's withing the PMBOK,

(1) in what proceses in the guide are the Enterprise Environmental Factors are updated?

(2) why are they updated in that knowledge area? Thus anyone have a real life example of this type of update?

Stephane - thanks for your input...

So you're saying that their skills and availability are changed to they consitute an updated?
Do you also consider that skills and availability are Enterprise Environmental Factors?

Any other examples of why are they updated in that knowledge area?
Any other real life examples of this type of updates?

The EEFs need to be considered during the project charter creation and all throughout the project as they are critical in achieving project success.

Exactly, George. Resources, including human resources, are enterprise environment factors.

When you start the project, you may rely on set of skills and a certain availability of these human resources.

As your and other projects move on, the human resources' skills and availablity will be changed.

Let's say you are using experts from a centre of excelllence. Suppose that you request 5 of the 7 experts available. Not only have you changed the resources availability for other projects, you've also reduced the complement that you can leverage further along your own project. If three of your experts leave for maternity leave, how will you replace them when there are only two left?

Hi George
In simple terms/example, think of EEF= Resources, cultural impact etc. EEF is updated regularly throughout the projects. Initiation to closing and are vital for any company.
OPA- every single document, template, analysis come under OPA. These are assets to the company and are updated all along the project cycle. Initiation to closing. Vital for the org and the project.
