Project Manager Job Description

We are embarking on an Enterprise Level Project and need to find a Sr. Project Manager with specific experience in implementing large scale software implementation. We need to create a job description and looking for help in what to place in that description.

I would use the verbiage that clearly states the ask from the role. For example, experience running large scale complex projects, and experience in the domain of the company if needed. Definitely, problem-solver, an analytical thinker in addition to the regular PM duties like creating PC, Issue/risk/change logs, meetings, communication skills etc. For Enterprise level large scale projects, linking the chain in terms of roles/responsibilities/communication/workflows is very important because those quickly become hurdles for the project going smoothly because of the complexity and hence if the PM has problem-solving and analytical skills then he is able to execute the project successfully.

Job Title: Project Manager

Overall objective
The Project Manager will be responsible to deliver the project on time, on budget, in scope and to the required quality specification for Project XXX. He/she reports to the Project Owner and delivers the project with the direct support of the project team and the Project Management Office.
The Project Manager develops the detailed project management & execution plan of his/her assigned project and implements them together with his/her assigned project team.
The Project Manager is responsible of working hand in hand with the main contractor & other suppliers to complete all required works, installations, commissioning of equipment & systems until complete handover to the business.
He/she works within the guidelines, policies and mission of the organization and will be responsible for his/her specific projects as assigned.

Project Scope
Here you give some details about the project the PM will be doing and held responsible for.

Primary Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical engineering or which field would be relevant to you
• 10 - 15 years of proven Project Management experience directly involved in medium and large projects in XXX industry / field
• PMP Certification an advantage
• Fluent in English
• add further points depending on you requirements (e.g. programming languages needed)

Core Responsibilities

• Manage day to day operations alongside the project team and ensure project targets (scope, schedule, cost, EHS, quality) are constantly monitored to ensure project delivery & success
• Develop detailed project management & execution plans and implement them
• Tracking, reviewing and maintaining a detailed project plan
• Managing project deliverables in line with the project plan
• Implement the project management plan according to the required project charter (customer requirements)
• Directly manage the assigned project team to ensure project meets deliverables & expected benefits and at the interest of the organization
• Potential support in hiring the contractor
• Develop basic design specification, conduct value engineering study
• Constantly monitor cost with the support of your controller and review invoices to ensure that payments never get ahead of the work
• Responsible for sign off and punch list finalization
• Responsible for claims management (with the procurement) and resolving of technical issues
• Working closely with other stakeholders and sub project teams to ensure proper interfacing and alignment in the overall project plan
• Resolving cross-functional issues at project level
• Providing status update to the key stakeholders via regular meetings and reports
• Prepares & delivers change requests and follows standard change control process with the support of the project team and cost controller
• Initiating, recording, managing and resolving project issues and escalating when needed to the program owner and SteCo as described in the project charter
• Responsible for all project documentation control and formal communication
• Responsible for final documentation gathering and storage/archiving in document system
• Responsible for purchase order authorization in SAP, if needed
• Ensures adherence to Environmental, Health and Safety guidelines, directives and standards
• Work and manage the project under our Project Process and be supported and monitored by the PMO

Technical Skills

• Possesses a proven good track record in handling XXX projects.
• Demonstrated experience in XXX (e.g. field of engineering)
• Experience to manage multi-discipline internal and external experts.
• Demonstrates excellent planning skills and the use of project planning tools (MS Project).
• SAP Key user (PS)
• Experience with applicable project controlling tools.
• Demonstrates good knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety rules and guidelines
• Able to work with diverse cultures (if needed).
• Used to work in matrix reporting environment with various stakeholders.
