At its highest level project management has a defined start and end date. Process management does not have a defined start and end date.

Please go through page 53 of PMBoK to know about the process flows to effectively do Project Management. The processes are also divided into Process Groups which help explain their exact purpose and objective with inputs and outputs. Without the Processes, Project Management cannot happen. Project Management is more of an Art, its a Science. The Project Processes are the tools and procedures to be employed to effectively practice Project Management.
