It will be pretty difficult to land a PM role in a different domain without some practical experience in that industry. Your best bet might be to look for an IT PM role within your current company - that way, you are leveraging your existing credibility and network, and hiring managers might be more open to accepting the transferability of your skills while you learn the nuances of technology projects.
Even though, you don't have any experience in IT, but you hold an experience in Project Management that add benefits to your profile. You can get ITIL certified, which is a basic and must have certification for professionals working in IT and people who are looking to make a career into IT.

I was able to successfully transition from a long career of product development into IT, and found most success in emphasizing my broad range of technical skills obtained from my product development background. Coming from automotive, you should have experience with system level development which could be applied to IT - applications development, infrastructure deployments. Although you may not be able to drill down into the IT technical details, you should emphasize the skills you do have in leading large projects and how would apply them to this new industry.

I think I soon will be facing some similar dilemma as I will be shifting from automotive and construction industry to some other industry which I have not yet decided, but IT would be a tough ask Saving Changes...
