How do you calculate and use communication channels in your project?

If you are having communication issues in your project, it's good to come back to the basics and calculate the # of communication channels you have to manage.

I think You have to identify stakeholders before calculating the channels of communication. Then it will be: N(N-1)/2.
N: is the nomber of stakeholders.

I suspect in many cases the total number of channels in somewhat smaller than the maximum number given by the formula.

Often, some channels are purely theoretical and are never used in practice. In other words, not everybody talks to everyone.
