Drake Settsu Project Manager / Blogger Hi, United States
If your team is in the same geographical area in walking distance. I feel an in person meeting would be more appropriate over a con-call meeting requiring you to share your desktop to present. People tend to multitask and not give their full attention to the meeting. You cannot engage in a virtual meeting like a physical meeting.

What are your thoughts?

I prefer F2F when it's possible - and I'm of the belief that even virtual teams should meet once a year just to get to know each other (that's not always possible though).

Virtual meetings with the rise of virtual teams are pretty much unavoidable most of the time.

F2F meetings is not always possible since most of projects involve teams/team members across geographical locations. Even in case of in-person meeting, when many members are involved, all members may not be equally involved. So irrespective of virtual or in-person, ground rules are important to ensure expected participation from all the members.

Let me add something that could sound controversial: if we do not learn how to do our jobs without having face-to-face meetings then we do not find work as project manager in the future (in fact, right now).
