I am interested in offering my expertise as a Project Management Professional pro bono. I would love feedback if you know of any non-profits and charity organizations that need project management services or if you know of other organizations like Taproot+ that help match pro bono experts with non-profits/charities.
One possible area is higher education such as a community college or university that may be interested in project management. It might also open the opportunity to teach project management courses as well. I'm working with two universities on this same issue. By all means get involved with the non-profit sector in your local area. The problem you will likely encounter is that they have no idea what a Project Manager can do for them, unless they have fairly intelligent leadership. So, you have to go to a couple of board meetings, find out what you determine the problems to be, and then offer a solution to them. The really effective use of your time is creating a solution or program that multiple non-profits could benefit from, like combining fund raising efforts, or utilizing the same team of resources in seasonal work for multiple agencies. (In Winter we feed the homeless, in Summer we build houses)

I had the same thoughts. Project Management could cover any sector/industry, yet many people may not understand this and its value to any Project. I have 'implemented' tradeshows and a wedding using my Project Management experience. Thanks for replying.
