I am doing analysis of data for project sizes for software services provider organizations based out of India. I am looking at size of the projects in terms of costs incurred to complete the project.
Is Small = 100K USD , Med = 100K to 1.0 M USD with average of 500K USD and Large = 1.0 M with average of 1.5M USD as fair assumption? Any references for this king of data would be greatly appreciated. Saving Changes...
Such terms are very subjective and organization-specific based on their annual project spend. Are you purely looking at labor costs or are you including software licenses and other non-labor costs?

Raju - These terms as the names themselves suggest are relative. Something which is medium for one company might be small for another. One way to find out is divide the project spend by their annual revenue. This can be used as a factor

Hi Ramachandran,

It would be a good idea to define the market segment you will be representing. For example, large consulting firms such as TCS or Infosys might have thresholds for small, medium & large which are much higher than those of a mid-sized or boutique player.
With benchmarking, it is a good idea to do a "like to like" comparison unless one is looking to significantly transform their organization or to be a market disruptor.

Hi Kiron,
Great suggestion, I would work on those lines. I will restrict my study to large services provider like TCS, Infosys etc.
Thank you
Raju
