Are you actively involved either as a Mentor or Mentee in a Mentoring Program? Do you work with Veterans? How about combining those...Do you participate in a Veterans Project Management Mentoring Program? If you have an interest to Mentor Veterans who are trying to make it as a Civilian PM, message me and I'll send you information how to participate.

Your local PMI chapter is a great spot to find a mentor. Some chapters have formal programs while others are a great source of talented PMs looking to give back.

I am always happy to mentor people. If I can help troops reintegrate civilian life, so much the better.

LORI WILSON RETIRED - Technical Project Manager| RETIRED - LifePoint Health Clarkston, Wa, United States
While I have not been a mentor, I have been a mentee (sounds funny). This was such a great experience for me. My mentor was the most impressive leader I have ever worked for. He was a CEO for our hospital at the time and I learned so much from his leadership and guidance. He graciously shared book recommendations, ideas and concepts (such as seeing things in systems) and gave me homework assignments at the end of each session. He is retired, but will be coming to our local PMI chapter as a speaker soon. Even in retirement he continues to mentor and support others. If you could find a mentor like mine, you hit a gold mine.

I've never liked the word mentee. Too much like a sea mammal. I prefer the term protégé.

That is a great story Lori. There are so many Leaders who have provided time and guidance. I love the phrase "Lift as you Climb".
